Easter Landscape Day
What to expect
This will be a day of drawing and painting for young artists of secondary school age. Spring in Kentmere is beautiful! There will be lambs and spring flowers, and (fingers crossed) sunshine and swallows. The day will start with looking at some of work made by artists who have been inspired by the landscape of the Lake District, noticing how they use different visual language to convey the mood and atmosphere of a particular place. We will then explore a range of media and materials ourselves, experimenting with the techniques we have seen to capture the mood and texture of the landscape around us. In the afternoon each student will develop a larger more ambitious piece, building on some of what they have learned in the morning. With any luck this will be an outdoor day, but the studio is large with a warm woodburning stove and fantastic views, so rain will not be a problem. The course will be taught by Louise Sturgis who has many years of experience in teaching artists of all ages. Everyone will get individual support and teaching. Materials will be provided, but students will need to bring a packed lunch. Louise has an up to date DBS check.
