From Sketchbook to Canvas

What to expect

The painter Nick Bush will teach this course, leading you out into the spring landscape to gather information to work with back in the studio. You will experiment with a variety of ways of collecting material - sketching, using photography as a creative stimulus, gathering natural materials, writing notes. Back in the studio you will have the opportunity to reflect on and discuss what you have brought back, and explore different possible ways forward before embarking on an oil painting (or paintings), developing your skills in colour mixing, composition and paint handling. There will be lots of discussion of our own work and the work of other artists, as well as plenty of opportunity for 1:1 support and tuition. You will need to bring your own paints with you. When you sign up for the course I will let you know what to bring. All welcome - beginners and experienced artists.
