Landsape Painting in Oils with Nick Bush

What to expect

We are delighted to be welcoming back Nick Bush to teach this two day course at Long House Studios. Nick specialises in oil painting and in particular plein air landscape painting and his courses are always hugely popular. This course will guide you through the process of finding a motif, developing a composition and making a painting. You will be introduced to the processes involved in oil painting and the many and various decisions you need to make as an artist, including underpainting, your colour palette, colour mixing, choice of brushes and mediums. The processes and techniques that we will focus on will be those that allow you to work at speed, so that you are better able to capture the fleeting effects of light. This will be primarily and outdoor painting course. However in the event of bad weather there will be opportunities to work under cover. You will be working on quick, one off oils, and also on one or more sustained , aiming at a sense of space, light, form and atmosphere.
