Space and Scale Weekend

What to expect

One of the most challenging aspects of landscape drawing or painting is how to manage the scale of the view you are looking at. Students often feel overwhelmed by the complexity of the visual information they are faced with and need tools and techniques to help them distill what is enormous into something smaller. This course will explore the idea of scale and space. You will be encouraged to work large and small, to look far and near, and to consider the difference. We will look at artists' work to help us understand different approaches to this problem, from Durer's weeds to Jeanette Barnes' vast drawings, having a go ourselves. All abilities are welcome.
