Woodland and Water Week
What to expect
As well as the impressive fells of the Kentmere Horseshoe, the valley also boasts plenty of woodland walks and stretches of water. This course will focus on the challenges of drawing trees, dappled light, reflections and the movement of water. We will explore the woods, the mere (lake), river and reservoir, taking inspiration from the many artists who have done the same, from the landscapes of Rembrandt and Constable to the tree studies of Tacita Dean and William Kentridge. Each day we will find a different location and motif and you will be challenged to explore new approaches and media, learning to exploit their characteristics and to find those that suit your practice. 1:1 tuition and group discussions are central to this course which should equip you to approach landscape drawing with renewed freedom and excitement. This course is suitable for everyone - from beginners to experienced artists. Please bring suitable clothing and footwear for being outdoors. We will try not to let the weather deter us. Please let us know if you have limited mobility and we can discuss possibilities with you.
