What to expect

Louise Sturgis will teach this two day painting course. You will be guided through the process of finding a motif, developing a composition and making a painting. Whether you prefer to work in oils or acrylics, you will be introduced to the processes and decisions you need to make as an artist, including underpainting, your colour palette, colour mixing, choice of brushes and mediums. The processes and techniques that we will focus on will be those that allow you to work at speed, so that you are better able to capture the fleeting effects of light and weather. This will be primarily an outdoor painting course. However in the event of bad weather there will be opportunities to work under cover. You will be working on quick, one off oils, and also on one or more sustained pieces , aiming at a sense of space, light, form and atmosphere.
