Lino Cut Day with Sue Rowland
What to expect
We are absolutely delighted that Sue Rowland has agreed to come and run a one day Lino Printing workshop at Long House Studios. Find out more about Sue's practice and teaching on our Tutors page. This fun and informative printmaking day is suitable for beginners or improvers. Sue will guide you through the process of developing your own unique image, and teach you the basics of cutting and hand printing, to create a small edition of stunning designs on paper. You will learn - how to plan your design and transfer it to a piece of lino approx. 20 x 30 cm - how to cut your design using lino tools. - the importance of mark making and texture which you will use first in a sample piece and then in your own design. - hand printing and burnishing techniques so that you will be equipped with the skills and confidence to repeat this process after the course at home if you like the technique. - how to vary the process of inking up for one colour and multicolour designs If there is time you may be able to introduce chine colle (tissue paper collage) to your print as well. Please note, people with severely strained wrists or hands may struggle with cutting the lino and find this course difficult. When you book you will be sent a list of drawing materials and source imagery to bring on the day. NB There will also be a materials cost of £15 per person - paid directly to the tutor on the day - to cover the lino plate, printing ink, selection of printmaking papers etc.
